Summers County, West Virginia
Summers County, West Virginia, lies at the confluence of the New, Greenbrier, and Bluestone Rivers. It is home to the historic railroad town of Hinton and the folklore of John Henry. It is also where I grew up. It wasn't until I began photographing here that I started to truly see it. These photographs document my ongoing return to a place that continues to reshape my understanding of home. This work is both a document of place and an effort to better understand a landscape I thought I already knew.
